In 2013 Nate Ledbetter became the Pastor and Community Developer at our Austin neighborhood church, Church on the Block. Pastor Nate married Melissa in 2002. They have four children, Selah, Shiloh, Levi and Zeke. The household is rounded out by Scooter, an American Bulldog who is “bigger than Clifford.” Before moving to Chicago, the Ledbetters lived in Grand Rapids, MI and South Atlanta.
Pastor Nate graduated from Baptist Bible College with a B.A. in Bible and concentration in Outreach. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Before joining the staff at Chicago First, Pastor Nate was the Local Outreach Pastor and Regional Pastor for six years at Mars Hill Bible Church in West Michigan. He was then Co-Executive Director of FCS Urban Ministries in Atlanta and the founder of Metro Merge, a division of FCS, and Interim Co-Director of Charis Community Housing, a housing ministry of FCS.
Nate loves to spend time with his family and enjoys reading, basketball, beatbox, and sharing in life's crazy stories.
About his ministry, Pastor Nate says “I'm a bridge builder and tend to promote unity across every line imaginable in pursuit of God's new family in Jesus (Ephesians 2). As God changes me, I'm also passionate to see Christ followers awaken toward the greatest command of Jesus, ‘To love God and neighbor as ourselves,’ especially within the marginalized neighborhoods.”
Nate’s Draft for Life Mission: • Delighting in God, Melissa, and my children • Becoming my true self, loving God and neighbor as myself • Following Jesus with life under the influence of God’s ways
